This truck escape ramp is located on Highway 11 near the North Bay corridor, where long downhill grades create the potential for brake fade in heavy trucks. The system provides an emergency arresting area for vehicles unable to decelerate using conventional braking. Because the corridor has limited lateral space, the site uses a compact net-based arrestor configuration suited to constrained shoulders and variable winter conditions common in this region of Ontario.
