This truck escape ramp is installed on WYO-22 near the summit of Teton Pass, one of the steepest and most demanding mountain grades in the region. Trucks descending toward Wilson face extended downhill segments with tight curves, which can lead to brake overheating and loss of control. The escape ramp provides a designated arresting area for runaway vehicles using a net-based system configured for the limited roadway footprint and steep drop-off typical of the pass. The compact design allows emergency stopping capability in terrain where a traditional long-runout gravel ramp is not feasible.
