This work zone deployment is located along I-10 near the Porfirio Díaz Street and Franklin Avenue interchange in downtown El Paso. The roadway was fully closed to live traffic to support construction and maintenance activities in the interchange area. To achieve a complete and controlled closure, a portable net-based barrier system was installed across all active lanes.
The system was deployed in coordination with arrow boards, temporary fencing, and service vehicles to create a positive physical barrier, preventing unauthorized vehicle entry into the closed work zone. Unlike cone or drum closures, the net provided a continuous, visible obstruction across the full roadway width, reinforcing the closure and reducing the risk of vehicle intrusion during the operation.
This application allowed crews to safely occupy the roadway while maintaining clear separation from adjacent open traffic and nearby ramps. Once work activities were completed, the net system was removed, and the roadway was returned to service without permanent modifications to the infrastructure.
