Autopista Real del Monte – Entronque Huasca — Truck Escape Ramp (CatchNet)

In by john.dreznes

This location along the Autopista Real del Monte – Entronque Huasca corridor is planned for a CatchNet truck escape ramp to address runaway vehicle risks on a steep mountain approach serving heavy commercial traffic. The roadway geometry, surrounding terrain, and limited available right-of-way made a traditional long gravel escape ramp impractical at this site.

The CatchNet system provides a compact, energy-absorbing vehicle arresting solution capable of safely decelerating and capturing out-of-control trucks within a significantly shorter distance. By absorbing vehicle energy through a controlled net-based system, the installation reduces the risk of rollover, secondary impacts, and intrusion into adjacent travel lanes.

Once completed, this escape ramp will enhance safety for freight operators and the traveling public while fitting within the constrained mountain environment and existing roadway footprint of this critical corridor.
